A total of 10,597 people recovered from the disease
Some 2,381 people tested positive in the last 24 hours. With
the latest figure, the total number of confirmed cases jumped to 49,534.
The country also recorded 22 more deaths over a dayÕs time,
taking the tally of fatalities to 672 (1.36%).
Additional Director General (administration) of the
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Dr Nasima Sultana revealed
the latest figures through a daily online bulletin on the Covid-19 situation on
Monday.
Of the deceased — 19 men and three women — 11 were from
Dhaka division, eight from Chittagong division, two from Sylhet , and one from
Barisal division, she said.
Of the 22 who died in the 24-hour span, one was in the 20s,
eight in their 40s, four in their 50s, seven in the 60s, and two were in their
70s.
Fifteen died in hospitals while undergoing treatment, six at
home, and one died on the way to a hospital, she added.
Nasima, also DGHS acting director general, said 13,104
samples were collected in the past 24 hours and 11,439 were tested in 52 labs
across the country.
In all, 320,369 tests have been conducted so far, she said.
Nasima also said that a record 816 number of Covid-19
patients recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours, raising the total
recoveries to 10,597 some 21.39% of all infected.
Across the country, 449 more people were taken to isolation
in the last 24 hours, while 222 were released. Currently, 6,021 people are in
isolation and 3,238 have been released so far, she said.
There are 13,284 isolation beds in Bangladesh , with 7,250 in Dhaka
city and some 6,034 beds in other areas of the country. Around 399 intensive
care units, and 112 dialysis units have been prepared for treating Covid-19
patients in hospitals, Nasima added.
During the same period, another 2,707 people were
quarantined at home and institutions, while 3,752 were released. At present,
59,136 people are quarantined across the country.
From the stock of 2,489,162 personal protective equipment,
around 2,140,293 have been distributed so far.
At least, 4,217 doctors are now providing voluntary service
through online and other platforms of health authorities, she said.
She urged everyone to follow all health regulations issued
by her office including wearing face masks.
She advised maintaining at least three-feet social
distancing in offices, markets, and workplaces, and washing hands for 20
seconds at least.
ÒAll infected and non-infected people, keep yourselves
cheerful and your mental health in check as well. Also do light exercises and
eat vitamin-C, zinc, and food consisting of protein,Ó she said.
Those infected with the deadly virus could take fresh vegetables
and fruits, liquid food, hot water, she said.
Quoting the recovered Covid-19 patients, Nasima said
solutions (mixture) made of ginger and clove with hot water, and honey and
fennel flower with hot water proved to be a good treatment.
